In a video released by the Russian Defense Ministry on Sunday, August 25, 2024, a Russian Army Buk-2M self-propelled, medium-range surface-to-air missile system fires at air targets in an undisclosed area of Ukraine.

In the capital city of Kyiv, at least seven explosions were heard amidst a nationwide warning of Russian aerial attacks, according to AFP.
Three people were killed in the strikes, with fatalities reported in the western region of Lutsk, as well as the eastern Dnipro and southern Zaporizhzhia areas.

Ukraine’s air force informed citizens that Russia had 11 TU-95 strategic bombers in flight and confirmed the launch of multiple missiles.
They also reported several groups of Russian drones moving toward eastern, northern, southern, and central parts of Ukraine, followed by the launch of several cruise and ballistic missiles, according to the Associated Press.

The attack, which started around midnight, is still ongoing and appears to be one of Russia’s most significant offensives against Ukraine in recent weeks.
Local officials in the northwestern city of Lutsk confirmed explosions and reported damage to an apartment building, with one person killed in the incident.

Governors in the southern regions of Odesa and Zaporizhzhia, as well as the northern Kharkiv region, confirmed explosions in their areas. They urged residents via Telegram to seek shelter.
The governor of Ukraine’s western Lviv region reported that Russian forces were targeting energy infrastructure.

“The enemy has attacked energy facilities in the Lviv region. As a result, there are partial power outages in the city of Lviv and the surrounding region,” said Governor Maksym Kozytskyi, according to AFP.

On Sunday, Russia launched attacks on northern, eastern, and southern parts of Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of at least four people and injuring 37 others, according to Ukrainian military and local authorities.

These overnight attacks targeted Ukraine’s frontline regions of Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Donetsk, according to the Ukrainian air force via Telegram.
Both Russia and Ukraine have denied targeting civilians throughout the war, which Russia initiated with its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
